The History

To tell the incredible story of Kids Against Hunger, we have to go back to 1974. Following a catastrophic hurricane in Honduras, founder Richard Proudfit volunteered his time to offer aid. Proudfit’s life was forever changed after witnessing the devastating effects of child starvation in Honduras, and struck by the profound suffering he encountered, he made a commitment to combat world hunger.

Drawing upon his expertise in manufacturing and distribution, he rallied corporate colleagues and leading food scientists to develop a groundbreaking solution: a highly nutritious meal packed with protein, vitamins, and minerals that could be easily prepared with water.

Through tireless relationship building, Proudfit created a global network of humanitarian organizations capable of distributing food under the most challenging conditions.

His visionary approach laid the foundation for what would become Kids Against Hunger—an organization that has since provided millions of meals to children and families across 70 countries, turning one man’s compassionate response to human suffering into a powerful, ongoing mission to end world hunger.
